Gaming Overload flocked by PC gamers

The VMall Exhibit Area was packed with competitive gamers last Friday and Saturday, July 13-14, as Übertech Philippines hosted its first ever action-packed gaming tournament, Gaming Overload.

The two-day tournament served as the playing field where gamers battled against each other for the top spot in three of the freshest and most popular PC games in the market. The tournament opened with matches for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and NBA 2k12. The second day featured a friendly tournament round of NBA 2k12 and the matches for the Street Fighter x Tekken division.

The winners for the NBA 2k12 division were Renzo Pacquing (3rd place), Kevin De Leon (2nd place) and Rold Michael Cornejo (champion). For Street Fighter x Tekken, the winners were James Patrick Markle (3rd place), Tonton Jagolino (2nd place) and Mark Frianeza (champion). 
For Street Fighter x Tekken, the winners were James Patrick Markle (3rd place at the left), Tonton Jagolino (2nd place at the right) and Mark Frianeza at the center (champion).
All first placers got to take home a motherboard from Gigabyte and free original copies of their respective games. Second and third placers got to take home USB flash drives and backpacks from the event sponsors. Lootbags containing Gigabyte lanyards, sports bottles, shirts from AMD and back issues of Gadgets Magazine were given to all the participants.

Marshalling the games were members of the online fighting game community, Team X-Over. The two-day event was streamed online by Jason Conanan and Edsel Volante through TwitchTV.

Gaming Overload was staged by Gadgets Magazine, the country’s first tech-lifestyle magazine, made possible by Übertech, one of the country’s premium distributors of AMD, Sapphire, Gigabyte, Cougar and Roccat, and official media partner Manila Bulletin.
